I have installed pcmanfm, from debian, had to install gamin, but have not been able to understand how to get themes and icons working using gnome for example. Anyone got any ideas how to do this?

cheers

To change the icon theme open /home/username/.gtkrc-2.0 and add

gtk-icon-theme-name ="gartoon"

or what ever theme you wish too the bottom. Save and close and reopen the file manager.

You could also try "lxappearance", which is a tiny app that lets you choose the gtk theme & icons for both user & root (individually). Works great with PCmanFM (As it should because it's part of the LXDE suite of apps, of which PCmanFM is also one) and should be available in the repo. If not, you can get the deb from

Thanks guys for the info, I have tried to insert

gtk-icon-theme-name="AquaX"

into the ./gtkrc-2.0 but upon reboot;

./gtkrc-2.0 contains
# -- THEME AUTO-WRITTEN DO NOT EDIT
include"/home/bobbylee/.themes/AquaX/gtk-2.0/gtkrc"

include"/home/bobbylee/.gtkrc-2.0.mine"

# -- THEME AUTO-WRITTEN DO NOT EDIT

After opening pcmanfm, I see no changes to the font or icons?

I will give lxappearance a go and see if I can make any headway.

cheers
