last night when i was resizing my partition a power shortage rebooted my computer. after reboot my got an error that the partition was with errors and gparted didn't want to touch it before i run a chkdsk /f in windows. when i booted windows it did a chkdsk and when i enter the partition all hell broke loose. all my music, all 5.000 mp3 of it is all messed up like in a blabla-blabla.mp3 are 3 different parts from 3 diffrent songs. now i really hate windows. i know it's my fault too because i didn't back-up the music. since 1998 i didn't had virus or anything happen to my hdd and the windows stays installed at least 2 years so i got stupid and didn't back-it-up. in conclusion i don't know nothing about recovering a partition. i looked on the net and i did find recovery programs that do mbr or formated partition. i guess i need a program to rearrange all my data the right way. any of you know a program like this or can tell me of a good recovery kit to have for the future. as a last solution i can get the music 1 mp3 at a time __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__ __{{emoticon}}__

You might be able to fix it with Spinrite. I have used it to repair several drives and it has worked for me.

Give me a couple of days to find a winxxx app. I got confused one day while trying to reinstall winxxx and deleted the wrong partition - the one with my music. However, my friend gave me an app that recovered all of it. I might still have it on disc somewhere. I just need a day or two to locate it. (It's a commercial app - from vcom I think.)

Take a look in synaptic for autopsy. It's a front end for sleuthkit that uses your web browser to scour a drive for lost information.

thank you all for the advices but i didn't managed to make it work. a better solution is to get everything back by downloading it. a software to recover deleted partition dosen't work because i was able to see my files and i tried it. spinrise took 7 hours no result and i didn't get no sleep because of the fan noise of the comp. thanks again for the help provided.
