This is my first Lappy, it was my sons he took to TQ base, IQ when he joined the Marines in 2006. Now he has upgraded to a new HP lapp and I get this. It's missing a few button but works great on antiX full.

Now I reallyed wanted to stay with a stable Mepis/Debian Stable base, but it seems Anti has taken us further into Stable/Wheezy.... less Mepis.

I miss Mepis's samba which just worked and I really miss Amarok. (Amarok really has way to many dependencies to install). Xmms and GogglesMM has ne problem and that is a lack of an independent volume slider. You turn these down, they work off the PC's main sound slider and turn down the whole PC.

I tried both core and base aniX but kept coming up with a machine choked down with too much stuff. I am using IceWM and am slowly getting used to it and its flying on this old machine.

Is there a way to get a Stable/Mepis antiX or are we stuck with testing?

I aint mad, just asking..... __{{emoticon}}__

As root

Enable/Uncomment=no # out the Debian Squeeze repos in /etc/apt/sources.lst

Code: Select all

# Debian Stable.
# Since 06-Feb-2011 this is known as"Squeeze". Use for maximum stability INSTEAD of
# the 'rolling' TESTING release concept.
# So, for max stability, UNCOMMENT the next two 'deb' lines and
# COMMENT-OUT the corresponding 'deb' lines in TESTING above.
#deb http://ftp.ca.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib non-free
#deb http://security.debian.org/ squeeze/updates main contrib non-free
#deb-src http://ftp.ca.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib non-free
Comment out=#/Disable testing repos in /etc/apt/sources.st

Code: Select all

# Debian Testing. Default for antiX.
# Testing enabled for 'rolling' release.
deb http://ftp.ca.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free
deb http://security.debian.org/ testing/updates main contrib non-free
#deb-src http://ftp.ca.debian.org/debian/ testing main contrib non-free

Save and close.

Open root terminal

Code: Select all

apt-get update

You are done.
