antix-16 base did not ship with nbd.ko by default CMIIW, looking at debian repo there are multiple nbd with different version, which one should I get, and does the nbd version correspond with the kernel version?

the only thing I'm seeing is nbd-server and nbd-client.
it looks like nbd.ko is part of the kernel package itself. the default antiX kernel's might not have it enabled. You could try a default debian kernel instead. there is a"Debian Fall Back" kernel in the metapackage-installer. Its older, but probably has what you want.
