the more issues you report, the more I'm thinking your laptop has a general issue with the acpi system, which is also related to special keyboard keys, lcd brightness, and fan controls.
Have you tried the earlier antiX 13 to see if its any better?

no.
i had mint 17-mate but was using too much of my ide hdd, and i was curious to see how compiz evolved and it made it worse __{{emoticon}}__
so Ive booted antix15beta, saw that everything was alright, including wifi! and installed it. In mint mate everything worked fine, including the keys, battery, fan...
actually the wifi broke on mint after closing the screen before i disconected it and now no special keys. Thought it would be a software error so installed antix but now even more isues appear...

Have you ran inxi --recommends and lm sensors. Because mine/Emachines M/C Desktop says
while yours says
You need to install lmsensors and run sensors detect to get what I get

I posted apt-search acpi just to show the available tools and their descriptions so you could google search what they do and
whether or not any of those tools would be of assistence to you. I own no HP hardware,
You are dealing with a combo of of issues IMO.
Each hardware is different built with different components.
My Emachine needs to be tweaked a bit different than my Dell Machines.
Same for HP in your case.
The Kernel is usually very good in getting things just right. But sometimes one must make their own bash.sh for a certain
hardware function to work just like they want. Unless the developer has the exact same piece of hardware.
That is a impossible thing to accomplish.
So. Lets teach you how to search so you can learn something.

Hopefully. Since HP/Compaq gear is so hard to dial in. You will find a solution that way that fits your gear.
This post done in the dark using my FNn+Pageup key to turn on the led light that shines on my keyboard
in AntiX 15 Beta 2 on my IBM T23 Laptop.

when starting laptop and loading system, I see an error in the list, cannot start fancontrol, run pwmconfig first. I did that but says /usr/sbin/pwmconfig: There are no pwm-capable sensor modules install
run #sensors-detect, it asks for confirmation to scan for sensors and at the and says: Sorry, no sensors were detected. This is relatively common on laptops, where thermal management is handled by ACPI rather than the OS.
someone said to check etc/modules if contains 'coretemp' on the appropriate line (at the end of the list)?
and if it is uncommented. I do not have such folder on path. I only have etc/modules-load.d and with a file cups-filters.conf inside.

Have you tried running"top" or"htop" to see if anything's hogging your processor? Also run"sudo dmesg" and/or look at /var/log/messages to see if anything interesting (like kernel errors or issues) shows up.
