Well, i could be full of bullhash,

however, when I installed 13.2 I was able to mount all my drives.

I remember in Mepis, during the install process, there was a box to check: initrd (experts)
in doing so. , I was able to mount all my drives after the install.

When I did not check that box, It kept my system very tight, not allowing me to do so......... like this version of MX

MX does not auto-mount drives by default.

Use disk-manager to set up auto mount.

It works differently with MX. fstab does not contain all the partition information by default (only root and swap). YOu can still mount as you wish, but you will need to either use thunar, or do this:

1. make a mount point (for instance /media/sda6). Depending on location, you may need to be root.
2. use mount command as root or sudo (mount /dev/sda6 /media/sda6).

You can also use the disk-manager app to edit fstab, or edit fstab directly, to get more traditional mount usage that you may be used to. This is what I do for my data partition.

One more minor glitch I noted about MX
I opened up the terminal
typed su
( incorrectly typed in my root password)

instead of giving me another unfulfilled prompt - a second terminal window would pop open.

Makes you really want to type it in correctly the first time.

@bbwf, I could not replicate that problem. I just get an error message:

Code: Select all

$ cat / etc/antix-version
MX-14_13.99_386-xfce RC2 09 March 2014
$ su
Password:
su: Authentication failure
No new terminal window opened.

( bbwf, I could not replicate that problem. I just get an error message:)

Well, you know my machine is really a piece of junk, an old P3 Kayak
maybe a few bad sectors in the drive to boot - who knows.

I used to run Mepis till it got to slow on my machine.

Then I opened up a few books and learned how to drive linux with a stick shift.

That's when I learned to love Antix.

Anticap spent alot of time on 13.2, I have it installed and set up just the way I like things.
Got the network thing, parallel printer thing and a few other tweeks ironed out,
made a backup image of it.

It's a keeper!
