Ok I've been out of the loop for a few years but this

linktext was:"USA series"

at least has"the right words" and also screenshots for the knowledgeable Linux Geek and the slapper will get a chuckle.
Done by the fellow who did Girl With the Dragon Tattoo it draws one in with the same inexorable......... don't know quite how to phrase it, I'm a romantic at heart! __{{emoticon}}__
Anyone who has tried to ban me from very many forums knows that my history goes back to

when I was doing Windblows and was introduced to Linux by an artist who lived at the end of a road overlooking a fishing lake, using a diesel powered generator to get online....lol,,,, in the that other world known as Quebec....lol I mean now...THERE was a slapper!
But, those days are gone.........
Anyway, there is this young lady IT person at the college who..i mean I found a memory stick in her fridge! lol...for real, not a fakeout....
Anyway she texted me and said I should watch Mr. Robot.
a) First, it is done by the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo guy so if you are into a guy who really can produce"willing suspension of disbelief" then you know whereof I speak.
b) Second...........ummmmm the first ten minutes has the following lines: (sans quotes)
You're running Gnome
I'm on KDE
If it weren't for QWERTY I'd be completely empty
Ok THAT grabbed my attention! __{{emoticon}}__
After that there was the obligatory online cyber"attack" and phrases like"What's a rootkit?" thrown around.....
with then.........
surprisingly.......
.an actual description for an unknowing (read Windblows) audience.....ok that is cool.
Then they get into the hero"saving the corporation" (which he will later take a snipe at thinking that he did a big time thing) but well ok...
chmod, etc....
And THEN...........prominently displayed:
sudo
not even in all caps! lol......... I mean.........they WASTED what fifteen seconds several times showing him using"sudo"..........WHAT!!??0: ??
real Linux commands!! :0 .....now did they"show" anything? .......um no......but THEY SPENT WELL INTO FIFTEEN MINUTES...RAISING AWARENESS of Linux
on a series that is probably going to do very well....
hey.......then we had some really kewl harpsichord music, MY FAV!! I mean EVERYBODY likes harpsichord......right! ummm nooo....lol
OF COURSE.........WE HAVE TO HAVE A REFERENCE to..............Tron!!! lol
Won't say what it is but the hero meets the guy there and then it is gone!! lol
Hey.......
I know, shlocky, folll de rolll, who cares? all that..........but it will, in the opinion of the ol' woodsmoker raise awareness.
And..............in the tired stock phrase....."Hey, It's a rousing good yarn!!" ( if one thinks downbeat is rousing ...LOL... __{{emoticon}}__ )
Warning: LOTS of doing da dope with an obligatgory disclaimer, but it is no holds barred; so if one cannot handle that then maybe don't watch. And some"side view" of a"nekkkid wummin' / doper" so again if that is not your thing maybe give a pass.

Funny you mention it.
The show starts off by mentioning that browser and how insecure it was for the Indian/Pakistani dude? To think it would
cover his kiddy porn tracks.
England is starting to be such a controlling tool in my point of view. But then. I don't even have to wear a helmet when riding
from Texas to South Dakota. So my point of view may be biased. Sorry to hear that fatmac.
Tor by it's very nature and mission blocks java and flash. So some hoop jumping is required to make Tor less secure.jdmeaux1952 wrote:Try Tor

LOL
The second Mr. Robot....drilling his hds! lol
I don't know how many fora from which I have been banned......Linux fora which are really in the tank for the filthy lucre click throughs......... but this pic goes back to..........what........ 2006(photobucket has truncated information) ?
Nobody on"the coasts of the U.S.", who think that they are just SOOO........smart........about"computers"........ but around that time, hundreds of thousands of hard drives were funneled through the midwest into"Mexico / middle America / south America" to feed the ravenous maw........so that then microsith could start selling their malware to unknowing masses.......
But....... even then.......I realized one simple thing because I had read Levy's Hackers......... all ya gotta do is"pull da plug" which was also in the film 2001.
All of my hds stand vertically next to the box, with an external fan blowing on them, so that they last..........ummm forever, unless I want to multipass format them or drill them. and the"information" is on an external usb which can be thrown into a ditch.
