antiX comes with mozilla-mplayer installed by default.
What version of iceweasel do you have?
Or are you using antiX-base?

I just did an
apt-get update
apt-get install mozilla-mplayer
on the latest preview antiX-M7.2 in VirtualBox and it installed mplayer 1 rc2-8. I opened iceweasel, went to the BBC to play a video and it worked ok.
I haven't got Lysistrata base handy, but you may need to disable the Mepis repos, (if enabled).
What does
apt-get update
apt-get install mozilla-mplayer
give?

I get this
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies: mozilla-mplayer: Depends: mplayer (>= 1.0~pre5)

Post your /etc/apt/sources.list
Is it antiX-M7-base or antiX-M7.01-base?

Works flawlessly!
You've done an excellent job with this, you really have.
Much appreciated
Andy
PS I hope to be able to play all my videos/dvds on this now, I have w32codecs but wondered if their is maybe a guide to say what is needed for what.

Don't forget to install libdvdcss2 and liblame0 (both are not installed by default due to legal reasons).
You should then be able to play encrypted dvd's and all sorts of music and video files.
Unless you are going to upgrade, you will (probably) not need to use the Mepis repo. If you do an upgrade, then firstly do it with the Mepis repos uncommented to get the few Mepis upgrades (one is a kernel upgrade, it was a security upgrade) and then comment it out again and upgrade what is left.
Have fun!
