This one is admittedly a stretch. I just installed 16.2 on a home built machine with an AMI Conroe1333-GLAN/Pentium D mobo. It has a removable HD sled, and I use it to test distros. It's connected to an IoGear GCS634U USB KVM switch with three other machines connected to it. I haven't had many problems with this setup over the last few years, but this version of Antix won't recognize the USB mouse through the KVM box. If I connect a second USB mouse through the front panel USB connector, that works fine. The USB keyboard seems to work fine through the KVM, it's just the mouse that won't work. The system does show the cursor. Immediately on booting the system, the screen shows several instances of an error message that mentions"USB error -71". I cannot find this error in my log files, even with a search. Does anyone by chance have a clue what's going on here?

lately I'm inclined to refrain from posting a google link b/c I've been told that doing so comes across as a crass brushoff.

After some considerable fiddling, I learned two things:
1.) Some of the problem is cable and hardware. After multiple times
unplugging and re-plugging the USB cables in and out, the mouse
finally began to respond.
2.) The keyboard would also not respond at the point in the boot process
where I had to select which version of Antix to select (normal, safe mode,
etc.), the system will only recognize the PS2 keyboard connector. If I
have a PS2 plugged into the system in addition to the USB, I can use that
keyboard to select my Antix version, and the boot proceeds normally.
Once the boot process is complete, the system recognizes the USB
keyboard with no further problems.

So..is there a flag I can set somewhere that forces the system to recognize
a USB keyboard before a PS2 in the initial boot process?

Have you checked to see if legacy USB is enabled in the BIOS?
Have found up to 3 places where I have had to enable it.
Yes I had to use my PS/2 KB to do it.
