Long time linux user here from the UK. First distro I ever tried was Mandriva 8. Hooked. Been tinkering with the penguin ever since, 100% other os free for about 3 years now.

a warm welcome to the antix-community and greetings from Germany. You'll find that antix is a pretty cool distro and real fast also. __{{emoticon}}__

Ta for the welcome!
Fast / small footprint is what I'm after as my laptop is straining a bit with all the new stuff.

Great to have you with us, chrishall57! I use antiX both on fast and slow systems, and particularly on mobile systems. When I am on the go, it is great to: 1. Have a system that boots quickly and recognizes the hardware and 2. Have wireless access that works without a lot of gyrations. I usually use ceni to start up my network; it is a console tool and it gets me an access point as soon as the access point responds. Many other wireless clients hang for half a minute to a minute, but it seems like forever when you are sitting in some remote location trying to connect. I think that whether you operate with a laptop or a ten year old desktop, you will be happy with antiX. I sure am!
