topic title: Missing libxen for Pulseaudio install?

Not sure if this is the right forum, I am using the testing repos instead of sid on my Antix 16 fresh install. I try to install Pulseaudio and it spits out an error saying that"libxen-4.6 is needed but will not be installed." I got it working but I had to install this ubuntu package to get it working.

The"pulseaudio" package in debian testing repo declares a dependency on systemd
(which is apt-pinned to prevent installation in antiX) that's why the"will not be installed" message.

Apparently the ubuntu-packaged version you located does not have that (declared systemd dependency)
so you were able to install it.

Since you did not know about this.

Next time. If wanting pulseaudio in a antix install. Use the antix control center > system > meta package installer.

We already have a systemd free version built.



But I am running Jessie repos , not Sid. So I am not sure how relevant my post is.

wonder how libxen even became an issue. OP may have checkmarked"install recommends".
Anyhow, no"version 4.6" of libxen exists in any of the debian repos, AFAICT

If it has been specially built for antiX, I wonder why ~~ pulseaudio from jessie repo should install to antiX16 without issue.

In another recent topic, someone asked about"pulseaudio-equalizer". I haven't found a systemd-free package solution for that.

as usual, your biker is correct. Rechecking, I see the ok-to-install version is"5.0-13.0nosystemd1", from antiX repo.

with synaptic it's also missing libxen-4.6 and libxenstore3.0

Did anyone install pulseaudio with testing repos and how without using ubuntu packages?

Sorry, now I've seen, the whole thread is in the completely wrong forum.Could someone move this to antix-16, please?Image

Today after apt-get update I could install pulse-audio without any problems.
Think this is solved.

I uploaded a load of nosystemd debs over the last few days to fix this issue. Glad to hear that it did.
