havent been very active here on the forum, been busy spreading antix and linux in general __{{emoticon}}__
and giving people back their computers
but a couple of problems i encounered not necessarely with antix but linux in general
1). wallpaper, i use icewm, and if i move/rename the image i cant change the wallpaper anymore,in control center, when i click 'choose wallpaper', nothing happens
2). youtube, flash version has controls mixed up, and if i select html5 i dont have sound, also i would have like webm cause its a free format
3). sometimes, wifi drops connection, might be hardware, but on windows doesent happen
4). i use mc, and if i open a big archive (>1gb) by mistake or open from ftp it first downloads , i want to know it there is some emergency abort, i tried ctrl+c and other
i realise these are not about antix, more about linux, but its stuff wich annoy people, and make them avoid
on the good side: i have spreaded linux to people of all ages and proffessions i came in contact with
not all switched, but some did
oldest is a grandmother of 67yo browsing the web on antix linux

1. No spaces allowed in renaming. Moved Where? I have no problem accessing mine in ~/Wallpapers.
2. What version of AntiX are you running and is it fully updated. inxi report needed in this thread with a inxi -r to show repos I think.
3. Not enough info
4. ? Now we are all confused. Emergency abort? In Mindnight commander. Using unrar or what?

1) i have fixed it, by searching in files and manually editing
/home/user/.desktop-session/wallpaper-list.conf
2)
3). dont know what other details to give, sometimes connection drops
4). in midnight commander, if i have a big archive wich i can open, enter as a directory
if i try to open it, it probably extracts in temporary location
but i want to be able to cancel that operation
/home/user/.desktop-session/wallpaper-list.conf

Toshiba had installed some real weak wireless nic's about that time. Has to use a EnGenius EUB9603H Wireless Adapter with 5dBi antenna 600mW High Power USB 2.0 even with Windows to get any distance or through a single wall.

For midnight commander

Your wireless chip has been supported since kernel 3.16. So maybe you have something wrong in your wireless connection preferences setup? That is my best guess I can think of for right now. I never had a problem with AR9285 chips myself. But maybe another member can jump in and give some better advice on what to look for.
Which I read from hereIf you want to use ESC to cancel things you have to press it twice i.e. ESC-ESC.

Does your wireless drop out on all WiFi networks or just one in particular? I know that it is possible to have the wireless access point blip off and back on. Windows does not normally notice and when it does it generally reconnects sometimes with a little bubble notification where as antix and wicd may (but really slow) or may not reconnect automatically after a network loss.

Yes, I too experienced that (pause/play/etc icons squashed to left and overlapping) but that was last (?) november.youtube, flash version has controls mixed up

Topic: bug in wallpaper.py script (controlCenter"ChooseWallpaper") Jun 30, 2016
bug-in-wallpaper-py-script-controlcenter-choosewallpaper-t6449.html?
space in filename should not break the script.
absence of default/previously/last -used imagefile should not break the script.
Yep, bug. already reported (this subforum, 7 or so topics further down)if i move/rename the image i cant change the wallpaper anymore,in control center, when i click 'choose wallpaper'

2.4 Why does the ESC key behave funny?
Midnight Commander uses the ESC key as a prefix for simulating the Meta and Alt keys (for terminals which don't have Meta or Alt, see the three previous questions). For example, pressing ESC-a is the same as pressing Meta-a. In addition most terminals use ESC for internal representation of arrow keys, function keys and other enhanced keys. If you want to use ESC to cancel things you have to press it twice i.e. ESC-ESC. If you find this cumbersome you can generally use F10 to cancel. Alternatively turn on the old_esc_mode setting in the ~/.mc/ini file. The old_esc_mode setting makes ESC work as a prefix only if another key is pressed within 0.5 seconds. After 0.5 seconds the ESC key cancels. There is no way to make ESC cancel immediately (if we want to be able to use arrows keys and function keys).
