The rescue of the thirty three miners trapped deep underground for sixty nine days in northern Chile’s Atacama Desert was a fantastic achievement.
This is for miners and their communities everywhere.

I work in the mining industry. Let me tell you, you don't get many happy endings from disasters like that. It truly is amazing.

I too was very impressed with the way the Chilean Government handled the crisis, though had they put that much energy into making the mines safer perhaps the collapse could have been averted. I do hope that the miners get quality care, both psychologically and financially. This will impact their lives in ways they can't imagine, sort of like winning the lottery and all the repercussions from the sudden wealth and it's trappings.
Still, it was an amazing rescue operation, and I know they and their families are jubilant.
cheers,
