Attention should be given to the Metapackage installer. It does not work.
I'm posting a screen shot to show what I mean.

Basically I have been interested in the Gnome desktop. So, I had to use Synaptic in order to install Gnome-core.
As can be seen in my screen shot, I tried to install the Greek language suport package.
I was unable to install it in the M8.5 base, so I had to use the Fuxbox desktop where Synaptic is available.
M 11 base is problematic for me. The installation freezes at the 95% point in my desktop PC.

I tried for antiX-M11 base and it works fine as does installing gnome via the meta-installer.
The meta-installer in antiX-M8.5 may have issues.
Have you tried installing Greek support via apt?

I just ran antiX-M8.5-base in VirtualBox (fresh install) and meta-installer did install gnome-lite and Greek language as well.
This is default sources, nothing changed.

Well, here's another problem with my AntiX 8.5, gnome installation: While typing my posts, i had three crashes! (Screen goes black and I have to reboot in order to get it back, and it does not show the Login window )
Right at this moment, I am using Linux Mint 11.
By the way, I am triple-booting Mint 10, Mint 11 and AntiX 8.5 Gnome.
You see, I like to experiment a bit.
I have been interested in the AntiX project since it offers so many choices and useful tools.
Great work Anti!
Ok, I will download and try M 11 base again. The live CD works fine though and I liked it. I can't understand why the installation freezes.
Cheers,

nliter, maybe the freeze will unfreeze itself. It has happened to me. It seemed like it had stopped, but it did, eventually continue. Alternatively, you could use the cli-installer.

Thanks Anti,
I will try re- install M 11 base in my desktop PC, in a separate 40GB test disk I have..
I have been trying all kinds of linux distributions on a laptop (Acer Aspire 1360, 800 MHz CPU, 768 Mb of Ram) and I've had no success.
Mostly screen resolution problems. AntiX has saved the day. But I don't know why M11-base freezes at startup, stopping at the blue screen after what seems to be
a normal boot sequence.
So I installed M 8.5-base in the laptop, which did fine until I added gnome-core by Apt.
But, strange! At Login it seemed that I could not type in my user name and my password, until, at a second installation, I found out that I could log in, it was only the typing which was invisible (: I could see the cursor moving after each keyboard entry. The Crystal background did not help either, making the F1 sessions almost invisible too.
Anyway, it would have been preferable to install M-11-base and add gnome to it.
I hope this feedback may be of use to you.
Cheers,
nliter
PS. The crashes of M8.5 stopped. It may have been the fact that I had tried to use the Auto -login option.
