Some of you may know already.
MEPIS and antiX have come together to provide an xfce4.10 spin. This is still in alpha stage, but is already looking pretty good.
It is 'middleweight' (for you boxing fans) in that it is heavier than a typical antiX-full, but lighter than MEPIS kde. It seems to be pretty light as far as xfce distros go and includes more bells and whistles. It is based on Debian Wheezy and 'modernised' using dDebian-backports and MEPIS Community repos. Kernel used is 3.11.0.
It fits on a cd (just) and includes libreoffice.
grub2 is used
Includes antiX-installer (modified)
Includes antiX persistence and remastering of live set up
antiX live scripts used
antix-snapshot included
vlc for video
clementine for audio
live iso is multi-lingual

my antix-core xfce 4.10 install with the 3.11 kernel is pretty sweet.

I hope this doesn't mean that you are going to go back to using Mepis as base rather than 'plain' Debian for AntiX itself (?!).

This version is built using the antiX build scripts.
The other way round. MEPIS-xfce is using antiX-Debian base.fatmac wrote:I hope this doesn't mean that you are going to go back to using Mepis as base rather than 'plain' Debian for AntiX itself (?!).

Like anticapitalista said, MEPIS-xfce is using antiX-Debian. Let's hope it is as tight and the 386 version fits a cd.

Well done Anticapitalist and Warren, just installed MX, great!
no worries at all, connected initially with Sakis3g and installed the single
package umts panel and I am away... I am an xfce fan and Always have a bar on the left. HA,
I hope this is the okay place for a bit of excited feedback.
Great Job, bye for now

That are good news.
I added xfce4 to antix a few times on my own, so in general for me it ain't that much of an advantage (i will miss the bells and whistles, but probably don't care for them anyway __{{emoticon}}__ ).
Distributions which fit on a CD are always a good thing (and not easy to be found, these days).
