new user here, trying to get the Mate Desktop installed.
I thought it was supposed to be in the metapackages but I am not seeing it. (I did enable non-free sources)
also tried to install with synaptic but MATE Desktop Environment (meta package) shows"broken"
(first I used synaptic to enable all repos for Jessie and updated all packages)
do I need to get a new repo enabled?

In order to install mate on antiX-15, you need to allow libsystemd0 to get installed since mate-session-manager depends on it.
To allow systemd, you need to edit/remove etc/apt/preferences.d/00systemd
If you do this, you *might* be ok, and hopefully, you still use sysvinit rather than systemd.

thanks @anticapitalista that worked...
I first renamed 00systemd to 00systemd.backup (using another OS), then I booted antiX,
then I installed mate-desktop-environment and changed to Mate desktop
then I renamed 00systemd.backup to 00systemd
then I rebooted again.
now I am able to install all the extras I am accustomed to.

Hi guys. Just installed Antix15 although an"MX15 - Jessie" would have been preferable.
I like MX. I have a separate /home so I can install MX15 when it appears.
My puter is Toshiba P850, i7, 8Gb RAM, 1Tb HDD.
You could say that Antix15 is overkill for it, as I dare not blink in case i miss something, that is how fast it is! __{{emoticon}}__
So, plenty of opportunity to install the nice KDE. Yo?
But first time I tried with a complete KDE install it went bad and I had to reinstall Antix15 afresh.
I did consider Debian Jessie+KDE, but easy of install was something else, as I am spoiled by the ease of Antix/MX install.
Mmm....any thoughts/advices?
Thnx in advance. Cheers.
