From the Washington Post (via Slashdot):

:
These agencies oversee police activities. They employ cops who carry guns, wear badges, collect paychecks provided by taxpayers and have the power to detain, arrest, injure and kill. They operate SWAT teams, which conduct raids on private residences. And yet they say that because they’ve incorporated, they’re immune to Massachusetts open records laws. The state’s residents aren’t permitted to know how often the SWAT teams are used, what they’re used for, what sort of training they get or who they’re primarily used against.
Polite words fail me.

Welcome to cowboy logic.
Even the sheriff's department, which is the proud owner of the MRAP tank, says it doesn't have a specific use for the machine, but"It's here if we need it." Well, yeah ... but that same feeble rational would apply if the county decided to get an atom bomb — you just never know when a big mushroom cloud might come in handy!

On Slashdot, the following response was suggested:
You're not part of the government? Fine. Then we will charge you with:
  • Impersonating a police officer
  • Breaking and entering
  • Theft
  • Vandalism
  • Murder

Right! Found it! __{{emoticon}}__

In the late 1800s, nearly 1900s, they passed the ammendment that stopped the US being"The Land of the Free". As of that date, all US citizens belong to the IRS.

I know about this because a friend from Birmingham Alabama was living here in the UK when she received a letter from the IRS explaining how she' have to pay tax to them, despite the fact she was paying tax here. Sadly the IRS are no different to the monarch they replaced.

One reason the police are your enemy
