8.2 Control Center does not see my local parallel attached printer HP Photosmart1000. So, i cannot assign a print. Synaptic sees CUPS as installed, BUT, i can't see how to get to it!? I tried a command line for CUPS that goes to get a driver, BUT, it still does not configure. Is it associated with the printer being"parallel"? Tanx for the help! mike

In 8.2 the printer app included is next to useless I'm afraid.

Install system-config-printer and use the meta-installer app to install extra hp printing stuuf. (Office->HP Printing)

Alternatively, after install the HP stuff, use the web browser cups online at localhost
