thanks for the heads up. I just saw that in Synaptic. Being thats it's qt will it just affect kde apps?

No it doesn't only affect kde apps, surprisingly.
Virtualbox has crashed, mplayer, vlc and iceweasel all caused a frozen screen here.

Good to know. It will probably be fixed in a couple of days as usual. Never takes long.
