Could you give your opinion about the laptops available here and if any are worth buying.
Thanks.

I just want to speak to the cost side: the MX donation fund could go halvies with this purchase if that would ease the selection.

Well, owning and running AntiX on the intel Classmate and Dell XT myself.
I am prejudiced right off the bat.
But to be fair. The IBM X 61 looks like the bees knees.
I'd avoid the Compaq and HP choices.

But how/where(/why) will you use it?
The x series should be easier to carry around, and stuff.
Core2duos are awesome

I prefer basically ThinkPads, because they work with Linux excellent.
The T400 is still a good compromise for mobility.
Focus is on the resolution. Unbeatable is LED.
A few left (unfortunately only in German)

I would avoid Chromebooks, HP, and Compaq. Most others are all okay. Now you CAN get a Chromebook to run true linux (ask roky). but some people say it varies with models. Dell and Levono are probably the easiest to work on if you need to change parts.

Thanks for the feedback.
I'm thinking of one out of these 3. In paticular - the first in the list below.

all i know is that thinkpads have terrific keyboards.
the first on your list has the smallest screen size. I use a 14 inch screen on my T420 myself and find it decent sized. and the first unit purports to have a dvdrw burner, so that looks like a good choice to me.

The t61 was what that dude at diemodo reviewed MX-14 with.
Since this is your 1st unit in a while. I'd go with #2 or #3 with the 15 inch screens. Hopefully wide screen.
With my druthers leaning towards the #3, the Z61.

For my purposes I would say the z61. I would not consider #2... it is far to bare. However that may be different in your use case. I have purchased and resold antix on all of (or very similar) these models and they worked excellent. I did have wireless trouble on one, which probably could have been made to work... but I just traded it in for another with a better chipset.
The vga port is nice for developing because it allows you to connect a second screen which is very helpful. However, considering what that second screen will be... if it is a 16x9 type screen it is going to work / / match up much more smoothly with the 15" z61. If you were to use a 4x3 screen than the t61 would match up better as it is more square (IIRC).
As far a everything else...
The card reader of the z61 would be really helpful to me.... but easily added to the t61 with a usb card reader.
The audio ports of the z61 are definitely beneficial to me for running my headphones / speakers / mic. (this is really good when I use the tv as a second screen __{{emoticon}}__ )
The website does not say (as far as I can tell) but IIRC the z61 has more usb ports than the t61. I think the t61 has 2, where as the z61 has 4 or 6? I could be wrong here. Less than 4 ports drives me nuts, I woudl have to keep moving around between printers, usb sticks, phone, and external mouse.
The bigger hard drive of the z61 is nice *if you are keeping the hard drive*. However given the chance I would swap out the hdd for an ssd. Then the thing will fly!

Hello anti,
I really can not make a recommendation (missing
English proficiency).
I miss information on graphic-card.
no Rating:
Z61 (2006-2007)
T61p (2007-2009)
Again, only in German, to be observed problems:
