Ran -f install and still get the same segmentation fault. I'm guessing this just confirms our suspicions about a faulty storage device, but don't know for sure.

I at one one time ran AntiX 8.2 on a 8 gig Micro Drive instead of CF.
I have installed and ran AntiX (not frugal) on SD card also.

So I have no experience with cf. I do my check for drives using gparted and a live iso
on a pendrive to check another flashdrive when it screws up.

My problems were no boot to desktop when the flash drive was unmounted improperly.
Right click in gparted on the drive that would not boot during a live session and picking check from the menu was how I went about it and then opened the sub menu window to see what gparted was doing and what errors were found. Anyhows. That
was how I fixed my broken flash drives when they would not boot.

This may be a different problem I am describing than what you are going through
but I always considered CF card installs flaky at best sometimes. Just my biker opinion though so take me with a grain of salt.
