Hello folks.
I am trying to install the ATI driver in my Toshiba A105-S2101 lappy with sgfxi and can't seem to drop out of x desktop using the CRTL/ALT/F1 method to the command line prompt. Is there an alternate method to do this. The usual method doesn't seem to work for me.
Here is my inxi for this machine.

i can't switch with the standard kernel to tty as well, i think is mepis related. when you boot the machine add 3 to the end of grub and it should boot without X. login as root and run sgfxi then.

Thanks ICE-M. That's a great trick!! Unfortunately I got an error saying that the driver was no longer supported, but I should still try it and let the maintainer know if it works. (Or something like that.) I will have to give this a try tomorrow. It's getting late here. Thanks so much for your help and fast reply.
