is there a way to upgrade my existing mx14 to the latest mx14 without having to do a total reinstall from scratch?

You can install the new mx apps (mx-package installer, etc... ) from the repos. The kernel and such hasn't changed. The other major change was the default theme (zukitwo-dark, installable from synaptic), the icon set, and iceweasel instead of qupzilla.
So if you are happy with your install, there is no real need to wipe it out (I'm not wiping mine, just installing the new mx apps).
There are some cool features for liveUSB/CD, so if you are into that, you may want to download the new iso. These features DO NOT impact an installed system.
There were some changes to the installer, relatively minor, and if you are already installed, they really don't matter much to you.

the packages are described here:
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://www.mepiscommunity.org/doc_mx/mxapps.html"
linktext was:"http://www.mepiscommunity.org/doc_mx/mxapps.html"
====================================
They should show up in synaptic. just select the packages you want and install!

Only thing that showed up in synaptic on my machine was an mxpackage installer which I just installed hope that is all there is to the upgrade, would be easier if you had a command line upgrade rather then synaptic... like ubuntu has all you do is type sudo apt get dist-upgrade and your ubuntu upgrades....dolphin_oracle wrote:the packages are described here:

well, you can do that in mx as well, but it will only upgrade already installed packages.
you should see
mx-bootrepair
mx-codecs (installed in 14 already)
mx-flash
mx-packageinstaller
mx-user (installed in 14 already)
switchuser-mx

So this pretty much upgrades me to the new mx-14 after i get all these installed then??
I found all those in synaptic I just installed packageinstaller a few ago, and boot repair is not installed, I will install bootrepair now, and there is no switchuser showing up at all in synaptic....dolphin_oracle wrote:well, you can do that in mx as well, but it will only upgrade already installed packages.

Pretty much. The other changes just incorporate the updates to packages that have taken place since the initial release. That way new users don't get a couple of hundred upgrades all at once.
