Is it safe to do a DU at the present time? If I use apt-get dist-upgrade a lot of Xorg stuff is held back and even gets removed one file at a time when upgrading. Hmmmmm...........Also, wicd errors also occur. wicd-daemon not configured, missing depends.
When I upgrade with Sid repos using smxi, Xorg OK, but still probs with wicd and if I said yes to the modprobe alsa package it wipes my alsa settings.
I want to be fully updated. Should I wait to DU?
Thankx,
Robert

wicd is causing problems on antiX. If you don't use it, remove it
#apt-get purge wicd*
The xorg stuff for some reason removes one by one, but it does eventually upgrade.

I use wicd to connect my wireless NetGear WN111n USB adapter and one by one the Xorg files removed bork my Xorg completely using the stock testing repos, unless I enable the Sid repos where Xorg is completely updated.
I usually run Sid full out, but want to keep it Testing for the time being.

For wicd, try this in post 14 by cookdav.
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://mepislovers.org/showthread.php?t=26926&page=2&highlight=wicd"
linktext was:"http://mepislovers.org/showthread.php?t ... light=wicd"

For xorg, make a backup of /etc/X11/xorg.conf then purge xorg then apt-get install xorg.
You'll need to restore that xorg.conf file then reboot

Just mentioning, since I haven't wicd, but maybe it would be 'cleaner' to find the reference to the demo user in the wicd-daemon configuration files and remove it and then updating it, instead of creating this user only for that. It's kind of a preciosity but then maybe, if someone is interested, it could be identified if it's a wicd bug and reported.

I've been looking for it, but I can't find it.
