hi,

I'm using MX-14.2 & i keep it fully updated. A fair number of sites complain about me using an old browser. My vers of Opera is 12.16 whereas the Opera site says the latest is 26 - however, i can't find a 32 bit vers.
Yes, i could use a different browser.
Yes, i could use a 64 bit distro.
Does anyone have any other ideas please??

opera 12 is very old. they actually stopped linux development for a while and they are only supporting 64 bit UBUNTU for now.

an interesting option might be to force opera to use a different user agent string, making opera appear to be a more up to date browser.

Opera developer 27. Which I run is only built right now for 64bit.

You don not have to be Ubuntu to install and run it.

Above post is from a Opera developer.

Install instructions outside of Ubuntu

User agent switcher addon for Opera. I can't swear it will work on Opera 12. You can uninstall it if it does not work.
