Hi there!
I have this friend who was having big virus problems with his computer(K6)
He ask me for help, and then I install antix on his pc... (I'have little experience with ubuntu, but this didn't run on it)
1rst problem.. he has bunch of pps files (presentations) and I can't find any program on de cd (antix-Spartacus) to read them.
2nd. problem this computer is in his home, and has no internet conection.
also, I'would like to have the 2nd HD(FAT32) able to read/write by normal user.
Please help me, so I can help him; he is learning how to manage himself coming from win98 __{{emoticon}}__
Thanks
Leo

1. Look in /etc/fstab - your fat32 partition will be listed as vfat. Then change"default" to"default,users,rw,umask=000" and of course reboot (or maybe try mounting it using a terminal).
2. I don't think ooo is included in antix. So, if there are any apps your friend needs, you may need to download them. Then you can install them using the command"dpkg -i packagename.deb" (you should have and option to download but not install. This way you get all the needed dependencies).

Look for an app called"apt-zip". This should help you download the apps with dependencies and move them to another box for install.

As for OpenOffice (to access those 'pps' files): you may want to add a Mepis 6.5 CD (!) to the target system's list of repositories (see
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://linux.die.net/man/8/apt-cdrom"

Which factually requires at least a modem being connected to the target system (eriefisher wrote: Look for an app called"apt-zip".
