I want to install emerald but where is it? I've ticked the other repo's and reloaded, but still not in my synaptic list.

I don't think it was ever available in debian repos. The thread is old (2007) so I don't know how useful it is nowadays.

That did it. And I'm pretty sure AntiX is the only distro outta 3 I havn't seen it in the repo's by default (recently) anyway. That's between (Ubuntu, pclos and sabayon

That is because antiX (and MEPIS) keeps to the Debian repos as much as possible.
For some reason, Debian doesn't have emerald. I'm sure they have a good reason for it.

BTW If you get compz-fusion to work in antiX, please let us know how you did it.

Not really.
Ubuntu takes a snapshot of Debian sid (and I think experimental) and then repackages the debs as Ubuntu debs. This means that Ubuntu debs are no longer compatible with Debian. Now some Ubuntu debs will work in Debian, but in the long term it is not a good idea, especially for Debian based distros that are a rolling release.

The same with debs outside the official Debian repos, though I know MEPIS debs are 100% Debian compliant even if the original came form Ubuntu as MEPIS strives to be 100% Debian compliant.
