How do I install Antix from a cd. I'm an absolute novice when it comes to Linux. I notice that there are about 14 lines for any of the links which has confused me.

The first/default line should be good to boot from, if not you can try other selections to boot. Once booted you can select install from the menu.

Boot up using the live CD and that will give you a working system (running from the CD). If you want to install that version, then click on the menu and find"Installer" and follow the instructions.
I hope this helps. Good luck!

For a complete novice look at this:
========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://www.mepiscommunity.org/en/node/2"
linktext was:"http://www.mepiscommunity.org/en/node/2"
====================================
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false
This is the Mepis Community Site, there are several documents you can look at, antiX is based on Mepis, the installer is almost identical so take your time, do some reading, it will pay off in the long run.
cheers,

ok - i've managed to get to the 'coastal desktop' - after a couple of 'white screens of death' and a C drive reformat - but it doesn't recognise the mouse.plvera wrote:Boot up using the live CD and that will give you a working system (running from the CD). I have a tutorial made with screenshots for installing AntiX. The only thing is I made it for installing to external Flash drive. You can disregard where I told AntiX to install to (sdc1) and find the partition you want to install Antix and grub to. Good Luck with it.

I managed to get to the 'seascape' desktop - (no login screen appeared). The mouse was very slow. Then next time I booted from the cd - it started out ok with the boot option quiet no splash vda=791 aufs - but after initially running through the script it came to a halt with a 'white screen of death' - disregard the 'white screen' bit - it did load to the desktop eventually, but there was no 'log-in' optionoldhoghead wrote:For a complete novice look at this:

For livecd, auto login is used.
What are the specs of that box? CPU/RAM?
