As we now use xz compression, antiX-full with usual apps as in antiX-M11 (minus Ja/Ko/Cn fonts) comes to around 525MB.
Proposal, for antiX-full only.
Replace abiword, gnumeric with Libreoffice. (writer, calc, impress, math, draw).
I think this would be a good move as it seems libreoffice will work reasonably well on very old hardware (PII/128MB RAM) and for PIII and later, it is better than reasonable.
Comments please.
BTW Removing abiword and gnumeric and adding libreoffice increases iso size from 525MB to 587MB. (just under 600Mb with en-us help file)

I use LibreOffice on all my installs and have also included it in my remasters so I say YES.

Oh, this rubs me raw, 'cause I've been using abiword and gnumeric as favourites, since before their version numbers crossed over to the left of the decimal point.
Ya, OK for Libreoffice.
But I do worry a liitle bit for my"really old hardware", the poor pre-Pentium II wee bairns.
(BTW, libreoffice does work on them, just a bit slower.)

drg, can you do some tests? Like, how slow is libreoffice to open at first? Once opened, is typing in lowriter ok/useless etc compared to abiword? Is lo ok once working?
Personally, I use Abiword more than lo, but I don't have great word processing needs.

base doesn't include any office tools. so it's either libreoffice or gnumeric/abiword on full.

Very small testing of Libreoffice, ver. 3.4.4, (from the LO people, not Debian), a manual install but no JRE installed.
On a P233MMX, 128M ram, onto antiX-M11-486 full. Video card/driver for graphics performance is a factor here as well, I’m sure.
To start up abiword ----- 22 to 25 sec; for gnumeric ---- 13-15 sec.
LO writer 1st time after install --- 3 min 18 sec ; 2nd & 3rd time ----- 1 min 32 sec, 2 min 5 sec.
LO calc is faster ---- 1 min 31 sec, 1 min 50 sec.
Swap is being used to bring up these LO programmes, not much, about 4 to 5 MiB; RAM usage not bad, conky gives about 60MiB/121MiB. That’s if other stuff is not going on.
Typing in characters is slightly slow to respond on the screen. Think of a “and 1 and …” pause. Not so with abiword, subjectively. I find that I adjust to this slightly slower pace, but that’s me.
Did not try other parts of LO, this is a quick ‘n’ dirty tryout.

Using the full LibreOffice (1:3.4.3-3~bpo60+1 and others) from Debian squeeze-backports, with JRE, onto stock antiX-M11-486 full. Just thought it would be easier/quicker than updating/upgrading everything to current wheezy testing.
No fancy formatting, multi-page documents, frames, inserted objects, pictures or adventurous spreadsheets or databases. Just writer and calc, very limited testing.
-P200MMX, P233MMX, K6 266MHz, K6 400MHz
-variations of 64, 128, 192, or 256 M ram pc133 dimms
-each box with its own graphics abilities of course
With 64 M ram, well it does get there. Eventually. That's for the startup opening time and response to keyboard input. Abiword/gnumeric much preferred.
With 128M ram for all of these, some swap is being used right from start of LO, and is increased as you go on. But with faster cpu and video card, the use of swap is less noticeable. As for startup opening and input response times as well:
-on P200/233’s conky shows cpus at 100% use, taking their time to do their job, I presume writing to swap. I’d say “too slow response” for many users with 'expectations'. But it works.
-on the K6 266 and especially the K6 400, I’d say “that’s OK”
With 192/256 M ram on the K6's, big difference. Conky shows cpu's working quicker and 0 (zero) swap at first, unless I start muti-tasking.
The K6 400 shines here (sort of an equivalent of a PII?).
Threw in Athlon 1400MHz, 256 or 512M ram, which likes antiX-M11-486. Dare I say really fine with LO full. For some, this is an ancient slow computer!
I could give my timings for each tryout, tedious tho' that might be, go ahead, just ask. Abiword and gnumeric have been consistent with opening and input response.
My opinion:
Offer abiword/gnumeric to antix-M...-486 users, who would have the choice to try LibreOffice if they wish or need some feature.
