Sid dist-upgrade today upgraded ifupdown to version 0.7 and on next reboot the DHCPDISCOVER boot delay was gone. __{{emoticon}}__
It appears version in Testing remains 0.7~rc3

I enabled the sid repo, and upgraded ifupdown...
Yep, it seems to work!
No delay while boot, and I was able to put the /etc/network/interfaces back to how it was, as I had uncommented everything in there, to get rid of the delay...(but it still worked just fine that way)

I suppose I have to"pin" that package, so that it won't be downgraded when I upgrade without the sid repo?

if you use from sid it is called upgrade not downgrade because sid is higher. and if you disable the sid repos the package will stay, it will not be changed to testing version. (higher version) no need to put it on hold.

Oh, ok, Yes it is an upgrade, but I was just afraid it would be downgraded again as I am not really using sid, if I did an upgrade without the sid repo...
Thanks for clearing that up!
