I've updates to antiX-M8, and my old problem is back (search the forums for the last time with 6.5). I can't get sound going on my 600E. The prior solution involved modprobing cs4236 - the module necessary for this machine's sound chip. This antiX seems not to have that module (or else I'm not able to find it). Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks - I love this forum.

Having the same problem here.
It's an old Dell though that apparently uses the same sound chipset. (Crystal 4237b)

I've tried everything under the sun so far (/proc info verified custom, fully verbose modprobe entries, etc)

The last thing I've been working on is compiling the alsadrivers from the alsa site...and will try to get the driver loaded from that build.

The approach that I used to get the

might work.

I'm not at that machine now, but I seem to remember cs4236 or something similar being one of the modules that that machine needs.

There were some modules left out of the Debian alsa package. If you compile from source you will get all or just the one you want. It's an easy process.
