I like the qupzilla browser but I keep getting notified that it is a outdated Safari browser!! Are there any down sides to using it?? Thanks!!

Does it successfully play youtube videos? Last I checked (Dec '15?) it did not.

One downside is that some sites will react to its user-agent string by displaying an error page
and/or complaining that you're (apparently) using an outdated version of Safari browser.
You've already discovered this. Isn't that enough of a dealbreaker for you?

I'm an old man so my tastes are old fashioned; the two browsers that I like are seamonkey and konqueror!! However some websites do not like these browsers and I am forced to use firefox. I like qupzilla because it retains my email log ins!!

They are dropping support for older browsers on websites.
HTML5 is leaving a lot of older browsers in the dust.

I'm almost 50...is this old? I've been through some browsers in my time. I like Firefox a great deal and I stick with *at the moment* because it works and the small number of addons I use work too.

I would drop it like a hot brick if it stopped working and something was available that worked better.

What does"it retains my email log ins" mean. Is this anything like Firefox/Chrome caching of accountname/passwords? Does it also back those logins up to the cloud and sync them to all your browsers on other machines you use? I think you're clinging to qupzilla after it's reasonablr to do so. It's not supported any more and *it* doesn't support modern web tech i.e. HTML...sadly, unless you code yourself and fork the project and build in the updates you need qupzilla is dead, time to move on friend.

Finding new (sometimes surprisingly better) new favourite application is half the fun of Linux! sudo apt-get install CHOICES! __{{emoticon}}__

BTW Are you using the latest Qupzilla: QupZilla 2.0.1 released Jun 08, 2016?

I too"like" qupzilla, in the sense that I have great hope for the project.
However, each time I've tested I've found that it is"still just a toy" and lacks features I require.

currently has 168 status=open bug tickets. Is that a"downside"?

Installing qupzilla to antix16 brings 67Mb qupzilla-dependent QT library packages. Is that a"downside"?

qupzilla version in debian jessie repository is 1.8something
but
qupzilla v2.0+ is a different beast (uses qtWebEngine, vs the deprecated qtWebKit which was used in 1.x versions)

When you test drive qupzilla, you really should test both 1.8x and the latest 2.0+ versions.

Hold on... if you visit its project page at github, note how many people have forked it AND how many of those folks are contributing pull requests. Based on that activity, I really am still hopeful for the project's future. In contrast, based on the abysmally infrequent pull requests contributed to palemoon... palemoon, not qupzilla, is the dead-looking project.

You're right...I had formed the impression that without HTML5 it was an old abandoned project, Shay didn't help with"HTML5 is leaving a lot of older browsers in the dust." __{{emoticon}}__ Then I went to the site (shoulda done that first __{{emoticon}}__ ) and learned otherwise and asked if cousinlucky was using the most recent version. Rather than being old and abandoned Qupzilla is clearly new and not quite ready for primetime.

One to watch and use Firefox in the interim. __{{emoticon}}__

I got the qupzilla browser out of the Antix 16 package manager; I do not know what version it is!!
