I thought I had gone through the manual install of HPLIP without any problems but I'm still not able to print. I followed the MEPIS install steps. Maybe I'm missing some dependencies since this is in antiX? Trying to print a test page in CUPS gives me"/usr/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed" & I'm not sure what to do.

HALP pl0x.

BAMP.

The printer I'm trying to get working is an HP OfficeJet 4110. I plugged it in to my other machine running Xubuntu 9.04 and it worked straight away. Anyone know what I need to do?

What did you use to install the printer? I think antiX comes with gnome-print in the control center. I prefer system-config-printer avilable in the repos. Also don't worry about a test page, it may or may not work so I would test it by printing a file(doc or text). If the printer does not show up you may be missing a depends.

The print test page button does not work for hp printers for me. Try to print directly from an application - leafpad or something. If that doesn't work, You'll need to make sure you have all the required hp apps installed. I think there's a list in the wiki.

On the mepis forum it looks like the recommendation is to use hplip from sid - see this thread, post #129:
