I know this topic has probably been posted and answered so if someone could just point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. I am trying to get my HP printer installed in AntiX. I have tried using the tarball from HP, I tried the list of apps in the forum from synaptic, still no luck. Is there any easier way to do this? I really want to have AntiX on my computer because it just runs so nice. Thanks.

Notorik,

Welcome to the antiX forums, I have an hp c6180 connected wirelessly using antiX, the simplest way is to use the metapackage installer, in antiX 8.5 RC2:

go to:

menu>applications>Accessories>metapackage installer> (password)>Office>Hp_printing> Install

thats it, the metapackage will do the rest and you should have a functional install.

Then run in terminal as user

Code: Select all

hp-setup
and setup your printer as you like.

cheers,
oldhoghead

edit: Just noticed that this was in antiX-M8 Intifada, I can't remember where the metapackage installer is in 8, but I'll look around for my livecd if you need help, could you post the output of

Code: Select all

inxi -F
as a user in terminal, then we will know exactly which version you have.

in antiX 8.0 it's: menu>system>tools>metainstaller>(your password or root for livecd)>office>Hp_printing>install

I have the HP PSC3180 and it works perfectly. Install the hplip and maybe the foomatic packages. Then use the cups interface in the web browser
