Hello, Any...
I have asked in another general Linux forum about using a good distro on a 2nd-hand HP Pavillion Laptop (HP-15-AB054TU) that I picked up.
Essentials are core i5-5200U (4-threads) 2.2GHz, 64-bit, Intel HD Graphics 5500.
There are several reasons why I had to ask:-
1. This is a HP laptop. That is, ALL HP components.
In the past I have had to find a distro to"fit" my olde PC mix - and you may have seen one or two of my posts about that. Antix (both 15 and 16) is one of the few distros I could get working on my setup. ANTIX works so well that I use it most often now.
2. The HP laptop is 64-bit
I have only used 32-bit distros.
3. Desire for multi-O/S setup (probably multi-distro too)
4. Win-8.1 already installed
(I have been provided with a solution to not messing up the Win install).
.
.
After a few days I have only had one response - but it was helpful. The Respondent advised that"most distros" would be OK, but he also referenced"Linux Mint Mate" (based on my desire for GUI as practical usage).
Since I like Antix XFCE, can I ask if:-
* anyone has had any direct experience with installing ANTIX-15/16 on that HP model of laptop?
* (senior) has had experience with installing Antix-15/16 on a variety of laptops - even including notable difficulties (if occurred)?
Regards,
aka boombaby

I use mx 15 64bit as my main OS on a HP pavillion in my siganture below. No problems at all.
I also use antix 16 on this laptop.
All of my linux machines are laptops. I have not your particular laptop.

Try a bootable USB first.
May have to disable Safe boot to get it to boot.
About the only problem I have it is sometimes the wifi drivers.
