Hi all-
Just giving AntiX a spin. Was running Debian Lenny and installed LXDE, loved how lightweight it was so I figured why not try out a wholly lightweight OS. Plus, I'm running older hardware with limited RAM (Celeron 2.93 Ghz processor and just under 500 Mb of RAM) so I thought AntiX might just be for me. I'm typing this from the live cd and I still need to figure out how to set a root password so I can fully install, but so far I very much like what I've seen.
Cheers everyone!

'sup fullmetalgerbil. The root password is already set. Just choose install antix from the menu. When it asks for your root password, just enter"root" (without the quotes). Good luck and welcome aboard.

I guess I should have come more prepared...I did a full install, and though I really dig the basic feel and minimalism it turns out I should probably read a bunch of documentation before I really give AntiX a run. I encountered too many problems, basic stuff like getting the sound to work-and I know its just a matter of editing a configuration file or whatever, but in the time that it would take me to get that, and everything else, dialed in so I have a usable os...well, actually in less time I could install Debian and use LXDE (Or just load IceWM) and have a similar, easy on the resources, system that just works from the door. Not that I'm discounting AntiX or giving up altogether on it, its just I'll have to come back to it when I have more time and desire to work with it.
