I would think 3.0 is the one I would want it must be stable after being out for so long.....
Apr 2012 NetSurf 2.9 released
Sep 2012 Early JavaScript support started
Feb 2013 Textarea widget used for HTML forms
Apr 2013 NetSurf 3.0 released
mine shows the same thing as yours does, my question is 3.0 came out in April 2013 and 2.9 came out in April 2012male wrote:Code: Select all

Install build-essentials and build your own from source if it is that important to you.

PS. My reply is based on the Bold Never solved reply earlier. If Debian developers are not building you a netsurf package today. It does not mean they won't build one later.
If you are unhappy with that arrangement.
Me. If I don't like something. I go into action. It is just my nature.
Hmmmm

Code: Select all
$ apt-cache search build-essential
build-essential - Informational list of build-essential packages
devscripts - scripts to make the life of a Debian Package maintainer easier
dh-buildinfo - Debhelper addon to track package versions used to build a package
sbuild - Tool for building Debian binary packages from Debian sources
If you are unhappy with that arrangement.

Build Instructions
There are two versions of NetSurf: NetSurf for RISC OS and GTK NetSurf (often referred to as nsgtk).
Unix-like platforms
Users of Unix-like platforms, including Linux, should follow the build instructions provided in the Docs/BUILDING-GTK file. This can be found in the source tree or viewed via the Git web interface.

and I posted that to get a reaction, glad to see it worked.... I am not going to play games to get what I want i feel it should be available in the system since it has been out so long.... Debian needs to hop on the bandwagon and update it....

The OP's antix posts, and the attitude expressed, are same as his/her recent LXLE forum and Peppermint forum posts.

However My old antix box needs netsurf, and I would appreciate it if someone has a clue on how to update it, rather then the guy who told me to abandon ship here at antix, and install arch since they have the netsurf 3.0.....
I am not on no LXLE forum, so no clue what you are talking about, nor did I ever mention netsurf on Peppermint board, because my peppermint machines all have the power and memory to run firefox...skidoo wrote: The OP's antix posts, and the attitude expressed, are same as his/her recent LXLE forum and Peppermint forum posts.

Your lack of knowledge and lack of experience is not mine, or my bros on this forums fault.
It is not Debians fault.
I checked out your thread at peppermint forums and I know the fix.
acpi=off needs to be added to the kernel line because I needed that on my IBM A22M to get it to shut
all the way down. Because the battery was crap on it. Unplugging the adapter sufficed till I figured
that out on my own.
I think but am not sure you have a Windows mindset where you think you are entitled to something
instead of thinking on your feet to get what you need or want.
Like I said. I am not sure. I also don't think you were not told to abandon ship. Being a desert creature myself
you made me grin with that, as all you will get out here is cactus stickers in your butt.
We are jovial, (I am am trying to be a little british here instead of the rude tattooed dude redneck country boy biker trash that I am),
bunch here and I for one am pretty loosey goosey. I shoot from the hip. I say what is on my mind WHILE trying
to show good southern manners and politeness.
So I guess what I am trying to say without flexing my moderator muscles and closing this thread cuz it's boring me
is install netsurf and move on already. Sheesh.
PS. Trying to get in the last word don't impress me none either. I am not offended, mad, or nothing. Being who I am.
Real life interests/effects/affects me more. I am not trying to be offensive either. But. Being a Biker in a China cabinet.
I seem to effect people on-line that way.
AntiX aint complicated. This GED uneducated biker is part of the team and if I say so. Then it is so.
We have helped you on all kinds of issues so please be nice to all members.
I know no one can please everyone all the time, but we try, we really do.
So Happy Trails, Rok
It is a old desert saying and does not mean leave AntiX or this forum. It means enjoy your trip through life.
So install netsurfMy old antix box needs netsurf,
Code: Select all
apt-get install netsurf
I told you how. install build-essential and build from 3.0 source. Just like in Slackware or Puppy Linux which requires devx. However My old antix box needs netsurf, and I would appreciate it if someone has a clue on how to update it,

You call yourself a moderator???
wow I really like the people on this site, and I was rude to nobody...
I feel if something has an update, then it should be able to be updated....
The people over at peppermint are a class act and very knowledgeable, and yes they have helped me a lot over there, as about as much as the people here have helped me...
I have only one issue with peppermint that was never resolved, and that was by My choice not to solve it, because I couldn't see going through all the hassles to solve it, when their next version coming out in two months already has the fix in it for the old ibm's....
so again How does this issue on peppermint once again pertain to netsurf???
I have no clue.... an operating system that refuses to shut down has nothing to do with the netsurf browser....
I feel if they offer the netsurf browser to work with a system, then updating it should be offered also...
I seen what you said before and I refused to go that route, cause once again the time involved is not worth it too me...
I should be able to click synaptic and check for updates, and download it like everything else....
Life should remain simple and not complicated...
so now you may end this boring thread..... I said All I need to say.....
have a great evening Rocky....
