Every reboot, I have to go to control panel, manage icons and refresh the desktop. Can you tell me how to make these desktop icons stay static on the screen? Mainly for the benefit of my wife who will be using this laptop.

btw, I am really digging this distro... nicely done!

I don't use Idesk. But please have a look at ~/.icewm/startup and see if there's an entry for idesk and if it's not commented (so it starts up automatically every session).
