I would like to know if one need to do something more after:
Start with antiX-16.2_x64-net.iso (on a usb-stick in my case).
Run cli-installer
After boot:
apt-get install <"list of packages retrieved from an other computer with 16.1-full"

I have done that (except for installing missing package spacefm-extras) on a laptop,
but I only get a black screen with some backlight after boot texts has passed by.
If I then ctrl-alt-backspace and log in I can use startx,
but I get an blue/grey theme with a debian logo.
I have updated xserver-xorg-video-intel to 2.99.917+git20161206-1~bpo8+1,
but it didn't help.
Am I just missing something in my setup in order to get the normal gui after boot?

What do you mean by Safe Video Mode and Failsafe in the menu?
Safe Video Mode Disable KMS (kernel mode set) video drivers and force the use of the vesa video driver. Try this option of the system seems to boot but the screen is blank.
Failsafe Boot In addition to forcing safe video, also load all drivers early in the boot process. Try this option if the system does not boot at all.

I did try to install antiX-16.1_x64-full.iso first,
but I didn't get a normal boot menu.
Just a flickering display.
Hitting return at that point didn't work.
Hence I tried antiX-16.2_x64-net.iso insead.

I run into a bit of problem with both myself so I went back to
antiX-16_x64-full and had not problems. Just my experience.

The"failsafe" (and"safe") boot options -- aka cheatcodes -- are explained here

but what you're describing doesn't sound like an"error" scenario.

"How to go from 16.2-net to full install?" is a wide-open question.
You have installed from a barebones-by-design alpha version iso. Its intended audience is expert/DIY users.

I have looked at the walkthrough skidoo, but I couldn't find anything extra but"sound init" in it.
(I can't find that 16.2-net is listed as an alfa release. Anyway 16.1-net gave me the same result last week.)

antiX-16_x64-full worked! (Still update gave GPG-error that one need to handle.) Attached boot menu from MX-16_x64, but it looked the same for antix-16.1 (if I remember correctly).

My problem with the laptop is now in an other post:
no-functional-boot-menu-in-16-1-16-2-x64-for-a-fujitsu-u772-t6898.html

My original question on how to go from net install to full install is still valid.
(If I find a spare computer I will try the same procedure again.)
I have done this before, starting with debian net and ending up with doudou linux.

You probably need to copy over from /etc/skel the hidden files and folders to your user directory.
You might also need to edit /etc/slim.conf and change the default user name

Sounds right. Hope I get hold of a computer in a week or two. I would like to try it out.
