It doesn't show up if you don't log in. good if you are just searching for info, and then you can log in to post.

I think you can block it with the aardvark fire fox extension or one of those other ad blockers. I believe it'll still update itself if you block it or something.

What a pain in the a*** (English spelling) Shoutbox is!
Is there no way to disable it?

Why isn't it just possible to disable the shoutbox in the user's settings? It's really annoying...
Other forums using phpBB don't show that shoutbox so it must be possible to get rid of it...

I always scroll in that shoutbox when I just want to scroll down the page __{{emoticon}}__ .
I guess I'll switch to"Serenity Green","Darkoholic" or maybe"ktukblack" board style. IMHO the shoutbox isn't that in the way in those style because they are more narrow...

I have got to agree with this - there should be an option to disable/enable this feature, it is the only complaint I have about this forum.spacepenguin wrote:Why isn't it just possible to disable the shoutbox in the user's settings? It's really annoying...

Unfortunately there is no user option to disable it.
Either we all have it or no-one has it.

Well it's no biggie I suppose, it's just that I have never had reason to use it, and it just gets in the way of browsing the forum. I have lived with it until now, so I guess it stays!
Thanks for a great distro Anti - your work is much appreciated here.

Apparently it's possible to add
to your adblock filter list __{{emoticon}}__
Code: Select all

Yeah, it does work __{{emoticon}}__ . The only minor annoyance is that you also don't see the rest of the content anymore __{{emoticon}}__machinebacon wrote:Apparently it's possible to add

This should do.
Code: Select all
antix.freeforums.org##DIV[class="shouts"]
antix.freeforums.org##DIV[class="onlinelist bg1"]
