I've downloaded antix m11 from linux tracker. It has placed the iso in my downloads okay but when I left click it I'm asked to open it from a selection of existing applications. When I right click the iso I can't see anyway of decompressing it.

I've probably been stupid here but I would appreciate some help, please

When I used Linux tracker to download AntiX 11. I was left with a Iso file of AntiX. There is no need to decompress the Iso. Only need to burn a iso Image disk or Use it in conjunction with Unetbootin to make bootable pendrive.

What operating system are you using?

If Windows, I find using Imageburn which is free is a good way to burn a image cd of AntiX.
If Linux, Braserio or K3B works well also for image burning.

I always do a Md5sum check of Downloaded Isos to check file integrity of downloaded Iso and burn cds with cdr disks at slowest speed also.

Ah, I see. I'm using Mepis 8 so will use k3b to burn the iso. Thanks for that. I'll let you know how I get on.

Well, I haven't done too well. I couldn't get anywhere with the download from LinuxTracker, not even as far as checking the midsum. So I downloaded the ISO from ibiblio, which proved to have a much larger data content, so there was something wrong with the first one.

However, when I inserted a a brand new dvd into my drive, having started k3b, I got an option to format the disc or eject it. So I tried to format it but got a message to say that the erasing had failed.

Then I tried a used dvd, one that had something on it I didn't need to keep, and got the same format failure message again.

Am I doing something wrong, somehow, please?

Since I don't know if you are using dvdr or dvdrw disks. No I don't know what is going on with you and k3b which I don't use by the way.

Hi,

I tried dvd-rw and dvd+rw with the same result. I'm starting to wonder if it's something to do with permissions....

You might try asking at

Since you are running
I'm using Mepis 8
I don't run Mepis or k3b so I won't be of much help on your errors. The DVDRW disk should erase in K3B and you should be able to burn the AntiX 11 image also in K3B, Trouble is. I don't use either one, Mepis or k3b.
