First I went to

========= SCRAPER REMOVED AN EMBEDDED LINK HERE ===========
url was:"http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11"
linktext was:"http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11"
====================================

Hmmm. Tried editing link. Just hit the adobe flash link shown on that page.

and downloaded the Flash Player 11 Beta 2 32-bit Installers
linux 32-bit (TAR.GZ, 6.4 MB)
and extracted during download the libflashplayer.so to /home/harry/Downloads folder.

I make sure all my browsers are closed now.

I then open rox as root in terminal

Code: Select all

$:sux
password:
#rox
and maneuvered to /user/lib/flashplugin-nonfree folder and opened it up. Inside is old libflashplayer.so (flash 10) . All other folders like /usr/lib/mozilla for example contain symlinks that connect to the /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so. So don't put it in there or in ~/.mozilla folder either.

I then opened another rox as root again in terminal

Code: Select all

$:sux
password:
#rox
#rox
Which now leaves me with 2 root rox file managers open. I rename the usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.so to usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/libflashplayer.sobackup. I then move it to my /home/harry/Backups folder that I have made for any backups when I mess with files or folders so I have a fallback plan in case something goes wrong. You can delete that file later if things work out Ok for you. Might have to be root in file manager to delete it though because of permissions.

You can also leave that file alone in usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree as it won't interfere with newer libflashplayer.so since you renamed the old one. I just mention what I do as it makes it easier for me to find files I am tinkering with later down the road.

I then go/maneuver to my /home/harry/Downloads/libflashplayer.so That I downloaded (which is flashplayer 11) . In the other root rox file manager open I make sure I am in the usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree folder which now has no libflashplayer.so in it. I drag and drop the libflashplayer.so from /home/harry/Downloads over to usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree and pick move from the popup menu. Done.

Iceape about:plugins (in any iceape blank address bar)

Code: Select all

Shockwave Flash

    File name: libflashplayer.so
    Shockwave Flash 11.0 d1
Opera

Settings>Preferences>Advanced>Content>Plug-in Options> You should see Shockwave 11 flash d1 in there.

Full screen works, as well as hulu and youtube, in Opera and Iceape.

thanks everyone,
followed the instructions to the word, don't quite know what I did or why I did it, but iron&flashplayer work

now ...
in fluxbox, the menu appears when you right click the mouse, the antiX menu appears, how do I change the Browser option to launch Iron rather than IceApe?

Not sure if everyone knows this already, but when I ran into a flash needs to be upgraded senario I simply type upgrade-flashplugin-nonfree in terminal as root. It updates and fixes the issue as far as I can see.

Neat. Tried your suggestion and quickly found out you type in update-flashplugin-nonfree --install. Thanks Dave __{{emoticon}}__

successfully completed rokytnji's recommendations; it works
however, 'update-flashplugin-nonfree --install' seems much easier

this forum is helpful!

Just a note to people with older boxes like pentium 3's and such. I found the latest Flash player 11.2 to be too heavy (system requirements) for my older IBM pentium 3 boxes. So using the older 11.1 flashplayer instead and doing my manual install fixed that for me. This is for 32bit flash only. I started with Flashplayer 10 and worked my way up through the versions till I found the latest archived libflashplayer.so version that would work. I also use the html5 group at youtube also.

This also helps on older gear also in Iceweasel for P3 boxes.
