Been trying out AntiX 8 Live CD, but can't seem to find the screen resolution setting in wmICE or Fluxbox? Does anyone know where it is? Thanks.

Just installed Antix 8M (base version) today and am getting acquainted. On this question, I notice there isn't anything in the menus titled control center. I found Admin/Tools > Mepis Admin > Xconfig > Monitor, but it doesn't offer me the option of changing screen resolution.

After installation, on rebooting I was faced with 1024x768 resolution which, on a 19 inch monitor, is pretty intimidating :^). I edited /etc/X11/xorg.conf in a root nano and inserted"1600x1200" in the section"screen" subsection"display" at each of the mode lines. That did the trick.

I wonder, though, why I don't have a control center?

antiX-base doesn't come with the antiX-controlcentre.
antiX-base is really just to get you started to build your distro with apps you want, a bit like Arch and Debian base install, but it is IMO easier to install and as it has X and some apps, it is easier to start from then Debian.

Have fun building your antiX __{{emoticon}}__

Well, I looked in synaptic for antiX-controlcentre but didn't find it. Is it there maybe under a different name?

Actually, I'm intending to use Antix on a spare desktop as a base distro to experiment with running a number of virtual machines with different distros on them, so I want it to be as lightweight as possible. Therefore, I won't build it very high :^>. I'm sticking with fluxbox and only need to do package management, light text editing, web browsing, and Tomboy. I can do without it, but a control center would be helpful.

The control centre is available from the mepisimo site, but not as a deb so it isn't in synaptic.
If you do want to install it, you can, but it may bring in things you don't want.

These apps are needed:
nitrogen lxappearance gtkdialog zenity geany roxterm gksu aumix-gtk mountpy gnome-cups-manager firehol lshw-gtk aumix-gtk grsync grandr rxvt-unicode partimage dmz-cursor-theme wmctrl sbackup wicd

plus some icons etc.

If you look at the antiX-upgrader2 script, you will see what is needed for antiXCC and you could comment out the parts in the script you don't need to use (at the bottom)

Thanks, Anticappitalista, for the response. I note that script is for upgrading from Antix 7 to 8, but I already have an updated version 8. Would I still use that script?

Actually, though, I can do without the control center since I've got everything going that I need. I want to keep it light, and F A S T!! :^>

You could use part of the script, but I think you are right to not bother with the control centre afterall if you are comfortable with antiX as it is.

Have fun with the base system and let us know what you have added/removed etc etc

So far, I've deleted Iceweasel and added Opera, Privoxy, and Tomboy. I may add Dillo 2. I'll add Virtualbox, Qemu/KVM, and Xen... then choose one and delete the others. I'm thinking Antix will be excellent for this application. My compliments!
