I have a CD burned with antix-m8.iso and a blank formated laptop. How do I install the application?

Go inti Bios for you Laptop. Select CDROM as 1st boot device in Boot order. Insert AntiX into cdrom. Close cdrom. Save changes in Bios. You should be able to boot AntiX up into Live mode first. Remember to read notes from AntiX Page for password.

Login as 'demo', password = 'demo'.
For root access, password = 'root'. Please do not login as root. It is totally unnecessary.
Use 'sux' rather than 'su' when opening GUI apps as root in

Sounds good but it doesn't work. I've tried it on 4 computers. There's got to be another step to extract the disk data or something before the info can be read.

You don't have to extract the .iso
Just burn it as it is.
Go to your burning-suit, select burn a image, select the .iso, reduce the speed to max. 4-8x, select DAO and start.

After that, try again to boot.

Should work.

There's something I must be missing. I'm doing the burn at a reduced speed but I don't know what you mean when you say"select DAO" I can't find anything in by burner related to DAO

DAO means Disc at once Modus.

A Linux LIVE-CD is based on high compression technology, and because of that, special care is needed when burning the ISO image. Only use high quality CD-media [or DVD+RW] and burn in DAO-mode (disk-at-once) and not faster than x8.

Also you can try another burning Software like this (Freeware for Win):

Tnx muchly - I have a bootable disk. I was not selecting"Burn Disk Image" and I reduced the burn to 4x. Boot is not complete and says I need 'cmov' I'll see if I can work it out. If not, I will return.

Have you checked the md5sum?
Maybe your iso is damaged.

You can check the md5sum with this : ¹
At the Downloadpage of antiX you cn also download an md5sum for that iso.
The only thing you have to do is checking the downloaded and from ur iso.¹

If they match - pefect!
If they don't match - get an new iso.

Don't know how to do the mid5sum so I tried the disk on another computer and all is AOK. Thanks again for your help.
