t got an old Compaq 5BW160 working this evening for the most part. I can't get to my storage partition or any connected external drives.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with Antix 11; I may not know how to do this on Antix.
Thanks for the help
BTW- Intel P3 700 mhz, 256 mb RAM (Maxed out)
How do I get to partitions that don't have my OS on them?

Use antix Mountbox. open mount box for example I have an sd card from my camera plugged into the system.
After you open mountbox click on list. You will see USB drives or any other drives listed.
In the device box type in the listed device you want to mount.
For example my sd card is /dev/sdb1
then just click mount you will see the mounted drive.

That's not working.
After I open up"mountbox" I hit"list" it shows a dialog box that says"partition table" and does nothing else. That box is labeled"fdisk -1"
I figured out early on that that is where I had to go, but, nothing works there.
I had storage on my hard drive partitioned as NTFS It wouldn't show it.
My thumb drives won't show either.
It shows two cd drives and clicking on either icon only works one of them.

This is an issue I didn’t expect, I thought I was answering a newbie question. LOL
Maybe someone else can help you, I never had this issue before.

In a root terminal does fdisk -l show anything, or is it blank like mountbox?
if it does show devices, can you access them by mount /dev/Listed-Device?

# fdisk -l
Disk /dev/sda: 160 GB, 160039272960 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 19457 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sda1 * 1 19193 154167741 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 19194 19457 2112547 82 Linux swap
This machine recognizes my hard drive now. Earlier it only recognized the partition that had the OS on it. 10 gb It didn't recognize the rest of the hard drive nor did it see the Swap partition.
It also didn't see any additional USB drive I connected to it.
Now, I installed Antix12 with pretty much the same results except I let the install choose the partition layout. 12 runs better but still has the same issues.
I tried other distros in this machine too.
BTW--Thanks for the responses.

Since it is a wonderment. Maybe check out
mounting-usb-devices-in-rox-t3048.html
Was md5sum check of downloaded AntiX 12 iso correct and matching also?
In my core AntiX 8.5 install on my LXDE Amrel install.
System: Host: Biker Kernel: 3.7.1-antix.3-486-smp i686 (32 bit, gcc: 4.7.2)
Desktop: LXDE (Openbox 3.5.0) Distro: antiX-core--a1 20 June 2010<<<<<<which is AntiX 8.5
Weird. My external usb and sd cards show just fine in AntiX 12 latest in /media when inserted.I had storage on my hard drive partitioned as NTFS It wouldn't show it.
My thumb drives won't show either.
