I had to join the forum just to say thanks to anticapitalista for such a great distro.

Now I'm confounded about how AntiX isn't higher up on the distrowatch list.

I just switched over from Crunchbang. I'm pretty sure I tried IceWM previously, but Antix has done it right. I'm still not a huge fan of fluxbox, but thankfully I have the option of a great pre-configured Icewm.

I about had a distro-gasm when I realized how easy AntiX is to control with the control center and all of that. I'm still fond of Openbox, but I think Icewm definitely stole my allegiances right now. Antix also seems to boot faster and uses less ram than Crunchbang did. What an amazing full featured distro.

Thanks again.

Welcome to antiX and enjoy!

We don't get much publicity which probably accounts for antiX not being well known. Still we can see antiX as one of those hidden gems __{{emoticon}}__

Welcome to antiX ... the 'lean and mean'

I have been an Xfce fanatic, this many a year ... since finding #! I have learned to love Openbox.

Since the new release of antiX M-11 ... I have learned sooo much about Fluxbox.
antiX (Debian) and Fluxbox have stolen my heart.

Thanks vrkalak and anticapitalista.

vrkalak - I remember seeing you over at the #! forums. It's awesome that you have found a love for Fluxbox.

It seems AntiX has something that everybody could love without trying too hard to be everything to everyone.

yorick, I'm also surprised antiX Linux isn't ranked higher on DistroWatch. Then again, antiX wasn't listed until last fall. I like the large software repository (which Puppy Linux lacks) , lightweight operation (which Linux Mint lacks), and user-friendliness. I'm hoping that automatically activating ROX pinboard (new for version M11) broadens the appeal of antiX Linux.

I tried CrunchBang once and had difficulty figuring out how to do stuff, and even right-clicking for the menu didn't reveal that many options. I'm used to having clickable icons on the screen, and I like ROX Pinboard, which shows that user-friendliness doesn't require bloat. It's used in anitX Linux, Puppy Linux, and SliTaz.

I started Swift Linux (

), the first antiX-based distro, and I hope that many more pop up. I think that as I promote Swift Linux, I'll attract more attention to antiX as well.

anticapitlista - I hope you read my follow up...

I have to eat my words. I do like Fluxbox, the way it is implemented in Antix.

I have to laugh at myself. I'm not much of a WM, DE, or Distro hopper, but I find myself using Fluxbox exclusively now. IceWM is still great. It's kinda hard for me to choose, really. But, I can officially say that I'm a fan of fluxbox now.
