I know there is a way to do this, hide the hidden"." files that is but I can't remember how or where I saw it. I want to hide the dot files when the save or pick file dialog comes up. Not that it makes any real difference but I think it's just a little polish.
Do you know what I mean? Do you remember where it was? Let me know.
Hide dot files

If in rox, right-click in a space, Display->Save Current Display->Uncomment Show Hidden

I think you misunderstand me anti. The file manager is no problem, I can view or no view hidden files no problem. I mean when you need to select a file from an application or save from an application you get a window/dialog to navigate to the desired location. I think it's zenity that comes into play here. If you open a terminal and enter"zenity --file-selection" you will get the dialog I mean. I get the dot(hidden) files showing here and would like to change it, I just can't remember how.

You can usually right-click in the window and find the option to display/not display hidden files.

Hi John,
Yes your are right. right clicking and unchecking show hidden files will do it but only for that selection. I know there is a way to make this permanent. More research needed. I will have to do it when i get back.
