Hello everybody,

I am new to the forum & new to antiX too. I have been using Linux mint on one of my systems since about 3 years.

I have two systems one a i3, 3gb ram, 300gb hdd.
And the other a celeron 2.4ghz, 1gb ram, 40gb hdd.

I had been struggling to keep my old system in use, by installing low resource demanding Linux OSs. I tired, LXLE, Puppy, Bodhi and now I am trying AntiX.

I am really fascinated by Antix. It is so low resource demanding OS. Really great. Hats off to the developers. I wanted something of this kind for my old machine.

Moreover it is so easy to get accustomed. And almost everything is there. It is a complete OS for a Home user. Simply love it.

Initially I felt the learning curve is steep. But within 3-4 hours of fiddling, I had my Desktop ready. And I loved it. Everything is so easy to accomplish, here.

I love the Rox filer way of dropping things on the Desktop. Ah! so easy.

And I love the Debian way of installing software, compared to the downloading the compressed installation file - ./configure - make etc method, which I just hate. I have never been successful installing a software by that method. After all I am no computer geek, just a small home user.

AntiX is really made for me. I feel I want to stick with it.

But of late I am having some issues. That I will discuss in another thread.

Anyway, great OS. Kudos to Devs.

I upgraded most of my systems to 2GB of ram because 1GB didn't seem to allow enough working space for Firefox to work proficiently/fast enough for my liking, if it is possible to do so, I'd highly recommend the extra 1GB. __{{emoticon}}__

However, Conky does not show RAM 100%. It's hardly arround 50%.

Anyway, unfortunately my hardware/motherboard can take only 1 GB, I suppose. __{{emoticon}}__

I am pulling on with Dillo & Netsurf.

The mobo will take 2 GB of ram.
Should it all not read, unplug and replug the ram in about 3 times.
This will tend to clean the contacts for a good connection.

You do have a 7200 rpm hdd.

If the 2 sticks of ram do not match specs close enough, this can happen:
1. computer will not boot.
2. Boot but can have all kinds of weird errors.
3. Work like we want it to.

Why I just buy matched sets.
