After a few months without Antix 13.2, I'm back for another go at it. I have been using MX-14 on my HP laptop. Works fine but I still miss the lean look and feel of Rox and similar apps. We'll see how this goes. __{{emoticon}}__

You could always set it up as a dual boot and work back and forth between the two.

Oops. I forgot to mention, that's what I did. sda1 is mx14 and sda3 is Antix 13.2.

I have always loved Openbox which is not part of Antix so I can try Fluxbox again. Do you like it better than Openbox overall?

Fluxbox:
*Does some initial configuring of your conf files so you have your programs in the meny etc.
*Configuring is easy with prgms but somewhat shattered.

*Resizing windows are'nt as natural as I would like (only bottom handle change size)
Openbox:
*Comes with almost blank configurefiles. Copy the defaults to your homedirectory to modify them. 3 files: menu, autostart and rc. And they are easy to understand.

*Does'nt have a panel so you need to install one, and theme it to fit your desktop.
*Naturall interface, feels more slim and natural.

Simple answer = Yes
I used to use it before using any other *box, so have a long time relationship with it, however, I'm not someone who bothers to customize my machines much, change of wallpaper is about all I bother with.

While i am the opposite in Fluxbox.

Of course, you could just install openbox. e.g. apt-get install openbox

You can even install a full desktop with antix, it's that versatile.

I'm still using MX-14. Maybe it's me (and I think it is), find that Antix 13.2 is not as easy to configure and set up compared to MX-14.

I just tried Puppy again and still find it a pain when I am looking for applications compared to Antix and MX-14. An example of why I am still using MX-14 is that I am able to use the Samba GUI app that I installed no problem in MX-14 but doesn't seem to be available in Antix (different repos?)

I love the speed and simplicity of ROX as well as Fluxbox and similar boxes. Am I making any sense of just rambling on?

All I have is a HP laptop that is stationary. I have an external keyboard attached to it and never take this laptop anywhere. I really like this.

I think I will reinstall Antix again and see how it goes. I currently have Crunchbang installed mainly because I love Openbox and the tint2 bar. Very simple and fast. I have no problem reinstalling Antix and see how it goes. __{{emoticon}}__

If MX14 is for you, that's OK by me, but I have returned to antiX, (I left #! & came here a while ago, nothing wrong with the distro, just personal choice).
I also use BSD, & occasionally SliTaz, they both do all I need of them. Also keeping my eye on Haiku. __{{emoticon}}__

Things are finally looking good. I have samba and my fstab file working great. I installed Openbox as well as tint2. I love using these two apps. Which file do I modify so that I can always default boot into Openbox, Rox and tint2?

~/.xinitrc as far as I know. Be sure and make a .xinitrc.old or .xinitrcBK (backup) before making changes if I was you
or make a Backup folder in /home/username and copy and paste original in there. Rox>drag&drop>copy.

Tint2 autostart should be in your openbox startup file? No? It was in my ~/.fluxbox/startup on mine when I ran it.
