Thought it was about time I said hello to all here and introduced myself a bit.

I'm still fairly new to linux, I've been running things like Ubuntu and Linux Mint on my laptop for the past two years in order to keep running so I don't have to buy a new one. However I don't really count that time for a whole lot considering those distros are pretty much ready to go out of the box. Then they got a little too fancy for this poor old machine, and I decided it was time that I looked for a lightweight solution. Trick was that I still wanted it to look nice. Lucky for me I found antiX. User friendly enough for someone without a lot of experience but beckons you to experiment and learn, and still runs on old equipment!

I started out with 8.5, but it was giving me some issues. Unsure whether it just didn't like this computer (it is a lenovo, after all I can't blame it!) or if my install disk was not quite right. All I know is that it would install beautifully and then act up after I did updates and dist-upgrade. I was about to give up and try something else but decided to give the 11 rc a try. So far it's been awesome, didn't have to go fiddle with wireless settings for the internal broadcom wireless card, I've gotten it set up pretty much the way I want now.

Welcome to antiX, lot's of great people here, very good and flexible distro, running old computers to new ones, you can run bleeding edge or stable.

Still running AntiX 8.5 on my IBM A22m 256mb laptop. No Broadcom in mine. Just intel. Use a PCMCIA Belkin F5D7010 ver.6 Wireless G Carbus and a cheap Chinese Pmcia Usb 2.0.and 1 firewire port Cardbus also since these old laptops don't have enough usb ports.

It plays movies on the DVDROM also. Indestructible so far. I like IBMs. __{{emoticon}}__
